Week Four, April 12, 2014

G1: The Winter Hill Runners might be the best basketball TEAM in PFL this season. They may not win the most games or even win half their games, but they are, more often than not, a pleasure to watch. They move the ball until they find the best shot. There were offensive possessions where I felt guilty for not having paid admission. (Do I need to say that DPo had a crazy good stat line?) Efficient shooting, aggressive position rebounding, limited turnovers. That’s the Runners. I’m starting to think the Bouncers need to send up more three point shots. They’ve only taken 23 (very low) and made just 4 (super very low). Relying on their size and run-outs might not get them playing to their full potential. Some of that potential rests outside the arc.

Game One /Winter Hill Runners (3-2) 41 – Brickbottom Bouncers (4-1) 39
(Players missing: Rollers out: Galloway, Stewart; BB not there: Kratka)

Box Score Game One

G2: The Rollers haven’t won a game. The Rollers let their lack of scoring affect their defense and then teams continue to shoot high (for PFL) percentages against them. That’ll get you to 0-5. It would also help if Steven Friedman would show up and when he shows up really show up. The Shoots were shooting it at a 43.1% clip. Jamal is going all Durant on us. Two 25+ pt games this year.

Game Two / Spring Hill Shoots (2-3) 61 – Ten Hills Rollers (0-5) 45
(Players not there to help their team this week: SHS: Keck, Kendall, Vidaver; THR: Friedman)

Box Score Game Two

G3: I kind of like the Cherry St Pickers; they scramble rebound, they run, they pick and steal. They are not afraid to shoot the ball. A wild bunch of innovative players and plays. Nice to see Chizzy with 4 assists versus 0 TOs! The Eastie Riders went bagel on 3s. They got out rebounded by a smaller team. They haven’t figured out how to get Derek “Pearl” Bogarty to show up. Don’t you have the feeling that Richie Snell is due for a breakout game?

Game Three /Cherry Street Pickers (3-2) 50 – Eastie Riders (2-3) 38
(Absent but not forgotten: all Pickers there; ER: Bogarty, Cox, Curran

Box Score Game Three

G4: Four Pickles in a pickle. How bad was it? 93 points bad. How bad was it? The Shaman didn’t even attempt a free throw because the Pickles didn’t foul them which means the Pickles didn’t guard them. Are the Shaman going to let their success in these type games go to their heads? What will happen when the other Twin Wright Brother Tower shows up (this week)? Will their chemistry be shot? Three Pickles scored 17 points or more and they lost. They needed more players. Barry Lai’s FG% is starting to look like Serge Ibakas’.

Game Four /Mystic River Shaman (5-0) 93 – Powderhouse Pickles (1-4) 63
(Where for were? MRS: J Peerless, P Wright; PK: Floman, TJ, Sam Marks, Millette, The Pope)

Box Score Game Four

You’re right Steve, I am overdue. I will try to make that happen after the Easter break!
